| Bad wiring and a stack of cardboard boxes led to a fire that charred part of the Rocky Ford Tavern this morning,
fire officials said.
It's not clear when the fire began inside the
red-painted brick building at 6625 Dyer Road, said Eric A. Ward,
chief of the Blue Township Fire Department. |
| The manager and owner of the bar, Jon Farrell,
opened the door at about 7 a.m. to find the building filled with
smoke, Ward said.
By the time crews arrived, the fire had burned itself
out, Ward said.
Most of the damage was confined to the bar area, where Ward
said the fire appears to have started. He said it looks like
the wires from several appliances ignited a stack of boxes there.
"We got some wiring that's completely burnt through in
there," Ward said. "Everything points to that area."
Farrell said he wasn't sure of the cost of the damage this
morning.
The property is owned by Catherine McCoy, 6601 Dyer
Road. |
